Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat

Madekwe comes from the mixed race family of South London in England. Her mother is English and her father Nigerian. Her family was raised in a council estate located south of London. In the ages of 14she enrolled in The Brit School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While at the academy, she performed in a number of stage productions, including the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. She has appeared as an actor in Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her first role in a film was Woody Allen's 2007 film Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. In the wake of that film's success her role was Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in six episodes of Trexx and Flipside in the role of Ollie. She was Bambi on the ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe made an appearance in the comedy feature film How to Lose Friends & Affect People. She has performed in Little Sweet Thing, by Roy Williams, and Flight Path written directed by David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009, with The thriller The Beautiful Life. The show aired just two episodes before it was removed from The CW. In February, she was cast 2011 in the role of Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. In May of 2013, it was announced that Madekwe who had been a series regular in the two previous seasons, would be leaving the show following a guest appearance in the premier episode of the new season. Between 2014 and 2016, she starred in Salem in the role of Tituba. Then, in June of 2012 the actress married her long-time boyfriend actor Iddo Goldberg. They have worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl and he also played a part with her on the TV series Salem.

Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Her four older brothers were also in the family including twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley lived in stadiums or baseball fields because her brothers, who were all athletic, were hockey players, baseball players, and both in the spring and summer. Ashley did not walk; instead, she danced. In the age of two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. This was the beginning of Ashley's interest in dance. Ashley continued to dance competitively through high school graduation, with top divisions like tap, Jazz, Ballet and Pointe. She also competed in Acrobatics, Acrobatics Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and much more. Ashley was awarded the best individualist in all the main dance contests, including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
